In
the summer of 1996 Wladimir and Vitali Vitali finished
Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky Pedagogical Institute (Ukraine) and were accepted in the
postgraduate study program of the Kiev University.
On February 29, 2000 Vitali Klitschko presented his doctorate thesis at
the Kiev University of physical science and sports, and was awarded the title
of PhD - doctor of philosophy in Sports Science.
The topic of his dissertation - " Defining abilities of boxer in a system of
multistage athletic selection." This doctorate thesis was presented to
representatives of Ukrainian, Russian and German mass media.
The mayor of Kiev Olexander Omelchenko and the president of Ukrainian National
Olympic Committee Ivan Fedorenko, were present to congratulate Vitali.
"As to endowments and talent, they are part of my doctorate thesis. But science
even now can't answers questions like why are some people born genius, will
there be a second Mozart or Pushkin, why some are talented and others just
ordinary. I have not found answers to these questions, but I found some
interesting consistent patterns. At least in the field of boxing," spoke Vitali
during his presentation.
On
January 18, 2001 in a conference hall of Kiev University of physical
science and sports, Wladimir presented his doctorate dissertation and was given
PhD in Sports Science. The topic of his thesis - "Pedagogical control over
system of preparation for young athletes."
." Wladimir Klitschko's scientific study concentrated on 14-17 year old
teenagers engaged in amateur sports. " I have deepened the knowledge in the
field of pedagogics, since Vitali and I are teachers. We have finished
Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky Pedagogical Institute. Thus working with teenagers was
very interesting. And the reason I picked this theme was due to my own
experience in preparation for Olympic games in Atlanta," said Wladimir.
Wladimir was approved the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) unanimously by
the academic council.
On February 19, 2001 at German University of the Bundeswehr, the only
higher education military university in Germany, Vitali Klitschko presented his
doctorate thesis "Defining abilities of boxer in a system of multistage
athletic selection." Among listeners were soldiers from all military branches,
as well as Vitali's fellow countrymen studying at this university. Presentation
last for an hour, followed by an hour-long discussion where Vitali answered
questions and explained his concepts. Just four year before that, Vitali
started training in Germany not knowing a single German word. And today he was
able to present his work and discuss it with German public in German language.
"If he continues to study and farther expend his knowledge," one of the
students commented, " in near future Vitali will be presenting his scientific
work in Harvard. And then he could retire from boxing and give lectures around
the world." On September 26, 2001 Vitali Klitschko again presented his thesis at the
University of Freiburg (Germany). It drew a huge number of public as well as
media and sports representatives. Following Vitali's speech, a charitable
action was hold. One of the paintings at the action was autographed by Vitali
and sold for 4,600 DM. Funds from the auction were donated to University
Hospital of Freiburg to finance research of oncological diseases. Vitali was
told that in this clinic many Ukrainian children were treated and with these
funds the university can further advance their study of tumor research. On January 30, 2002 in Bonn (Germany) in the main hall of Deutschen
Museum, Wladimir presented his doctorate dissertation to German students.
Presentation lasted two and a half hours. Among those present were journalists,
scientists, representatives of Ukrainian embassy, athletes and regular public.
Wladimir describes his work as well as the creation of special devise that
measures the force of boxing punch, precise time between impact of combination
attack, as well as other parameters which would help a boxer improve his speed,
power and precision. In February 2003 Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg, Germany
signed a contract with the company ELIXIA Health and Wellness Group. This
company has an extensive network of fitness centers in Germany and all over
Europe. Working together with Klitschko brothers they have developed Klitschko
BoxPower. This program combines elements of preparation for boxing matches with
aerobics. " I don't know any other kind of sport except for boxing that
simultaneously develops various muscles groups, reaction, coordination, and
balance," said Vitali after presentation.
"This new fitness program is for everyone - from men to women, from teenagers
to children. Elements of boxing are present in it, but the basic purpose of the
program is to promote your health, and improve your well-being," said Wladimir.
This program has over sixty exercises that would increase your muscle weight,
help with weight reduction, improve your coordination, endurance, and
concentration as well as reduce stress.
